Lhasa:
The capital of Tibet
Autonomous region and situated at the north bank
of Kyichu river, a tributary of the Yarlung
Tsangpo river, Lhasa has history of more than 1300
years. Lhasa is the main politics, economy,
culture and religious center for the Tibet
Autonomous region. The attractions of this city
(3650 meters) are the magnificent Potala Palace,
former seat of the Dalai Lamas, presides over the
city. Built in 1645 at the top of a hill, the
palace contains a thousand rooms, 10,000 shrines
and 200,000 religious statues. Besides, the famous
Jhokhang temple, the Bhakor market, the Sera
Monastery, the Drepung Monastery (the largest in
Tibet) and the Norbulingkha are the major
attractions of this ancient city.

Day 01. Kathmandu: Arrival in Kathmandu.
Transfer to hotel for check-in. Briefing on the
trip. Evening, an introductory sightseeing trip
to Downtown Kathmandu.
Day 02. Kathmandu: After breakfast, a
sightseeing trip to Soyambhu Nath (monkey
temple) and Boudha Nath. Lunch break. After
lunch, sightseeing to Pashupati Nath and Patan.
Return to the hotel.
Day 03. Kathmandu to Lhasa: Having an early
morning breakfast, transfer to Kathmandu airport
for flight to Lhasa. Arrival in Lhasa airport,
the drive to Lhasa. Check in hotel.
Day 04. Lhasa: Full day, sightseeing covering
Potala Palace, Jokhang and Barkhor market.
Return to hotel for overnight accommodation.
Day 05. Lhasa : Sightseeing trip to Drepung and
Sera Monastery. Evening, sightseeing and
shopping trip at own in Lhasa.
Day 06. Lhasa to Gyangtse: Full day drive to
Gyangtse. Check in hotel. Sightseeing in
Gyangtse including Gyangtse Fort and Kumbum
Monastery.
Day 07. Gyangtse to Shigatse: After breakfast,
drive to Shigatse. Transfer to hotel for
overnight accommodation. Sightseeing in Shigatse
including famous Tashilhumpo Monastery.
Day 08. Sighatse to Xegar: Drive to Xegar (New
Tingri). Check in hotel. Local sightseeing in
Xegar.
Day 09. Xegar to Nyalam. Drive to Nyalam and
check in hotel. Sightseeing in Nyalma.
Day 10. Nyalam to Kathmandu via Zangmu (border):
Drive towards Nepal after completing the trip.
Check in hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 11. Kathmandu: Full day at leisure or
personal shopping.
Day 12. Kathmandu to Kathmandu airport: After
breakfast, transfer to Kathmandu airport for

Gyangtse: This town is situated
at an altitude of 3,800 meters. About 94
kilometers from Shigatse. Gyangtses
symbol is the Kumbum Stupa which is 32
meters high and contains 77 rooms and
100,000 images of the Buddha. A prince
of Gyangtse had it built in 1427 by
craftsmen from the Kathmandu valley. It
is the finest example of 15th-century
Newar art extent in the world. Pelkor
Chode Monastery and Gyangtse fort (built
atop a massive rock) are other major
sights here. The road from Lhasa to
Gyangtse (260 kilometers) takes you over
three mountain passes: Ghampa La (4,794
meters), Sima La (4,380 meters high) and
Karo La (5,045 meters) via Yamdrok Tso
Lake. The scenery and the adventure of
traveling on the old mule caravan route
makes this excursion an unforgettable
trip. |
