Pashupati Nath, situated
five kilometers east of Kathmandu on the bank of
Bagmati river, the temple of
Lord Shiva-Pashupati Nath with two tiered golden
roof and silver doors is famous for its superb
architecture as well as an important pilgrimage site
for Hindus. Every year, thousands of
devotees visit here on the occasion of Maha
Shivaratri Festival.
Lord Shiva is known as the destroyer and
creator of the Hindu religion and appears on
many forms. Only Hindus are allowed to enter
the main temple. For none Hindu,
visitors can clearly seen the temple
and the activities performed in the temple premises
from the eastern bank of the Bagmati river.
