Pokhara valley is situated at
an elevation of 950 meters, about 200 kilometers west of
Kathmandu(6 to 7 hours' drive or 35 minutes flight from
Kathmandu). One of the major tourist destinations in the
west Nepal. It is also one of the most picturesque spots
in Nepal. Pokhara is a rare combination of the long
arrays of snow-capped peaks offering the panoramic view
of Dhaulagiri Peak, Annapurna I Peak, Annapurna South
Peak, Modi Peak, Fishtail Peak, Annapurna III Peak,
Annapurna IV Peak, Annapurna II Peak, Lamjung Peak,
Himalchuli Peak, Manasalu Peak, Boudha Peak Besides,
crystal clear lakes, turbulent rivers with deep gorges
and picturesque villages inhabited by friendly ethnic
people are the major attractions. Pokhara's numerous
lakes, known as Tals in Nepali offer fishing, boating
and swimming. |
