Jungle Safari.
The geography of Nepal
can be divided into mountains, hills and plains.
Chitwan, Bardiya National Parks and Royal
Suklaphanta Wildlife Reserve offer exciting jungle safari
holidays. Jungle activities here include venturing
into deep jungle on elephant back or four wheel
drive to view wild animals in their natural habitat,
canoe rides on the jungle rivers, nature walks, bird
watching and village tour excursions.
A wide range of the
earth's topography and climate zones are found
within its area of 147,181 square kilometers
including in it a wide range of ecosystem from
subtropical jungles of the terai to the arctic
conditions of Himalayan highlands. Nepal's rich
bio-diversity renders it ideal as an eco-tourism
destination. Almost 19 percent of the country's
total land accounts for its sixteen protected
wildlife areas across the country.

Chitwan National Park
This National Park: is situated 120 kilometers
southwest of Kathmandu. Chitwan is considered as
one of the Nepal's largest forest regions with a
wide range of wildlife-the rare one horned
rhinoceros, several species of deer, sloth bear,
leopard, wild boar, fresh water dolphin,
crocodile, more than 350 species of birds and
the exclusive Royal Bengal Tiger. The wildlife
activities in the park are nature walks, jungle
drive, bird watching, elephant ride and boating.
Visitors may also take river raft trip on the
way to Chitwan from Kathmandu.

Bardiya National
Park: is the largest and most undisturbed
wild area of the Terai. It is densely covered by
Sal forests, riverine forests and grassland.
Within its confines of 968 square kilometers,
there are animals such the Rhinoceros, Wild
Elephant, Tiger, Swamp deer, Black buck, Gharial
crocodile, and Gangetic dolphin. Endangered
birds include the Bengal florican, Lesser
florican, Silver-eared mesia, and Sarus crane,
Over 30 different mammals, 200 species of
resident and migratory birds, including many
reptiles and fish are found thriving in this

Suklaphanta Wildlife
Reserve: with vegetation similar to that of
Bardiya, lies in the extreme south-west of Nepal
encompassing an area of 355square kilometers.
Predominant among the wildlife in Suklaphanta
are large herds of Swamp deer. Other animals
seen are Wild Elephant, Royal Bengal Tiger,
Hispid hare, Nilgai, Leopard, Chital, Hog deer,
and wild Boar. Reptiles include the Marsh Mugger
crocodile, Indian python, Monitor lizard, Cobra,
Krait and the Rat snake. |
